The Power of Self-Publishing

This course focuses on creating a concise body of work in a small press publishing platform. We will focus on empowering artists through the communication of various printed media such as artist books/zines, sound releases, print editions and promotional materials. Class focus is on each student's individual way to harness the power of print to become their own publishing company.

We will be discussing identity and concept, as well as promotion and selling our printed matter. Participants of the course will have at least 2 publications released by the last class and submit them to museum libraries and stores. Our aim will be to produce something beautiful, honest and communicative using the intimacy of the artist book and printed matter.

Six 3-hour Sessions
Experience Level: Intermediate (Intro to Screen Printing or equivalent experience required)
Price: $350, all screen printing supplies included. You provide paper / imprintables.
Instructor: Soner Ön 

Instructor Bio: Soner Ön is an artist, printmaker and illustrator from Brooklyn, New York. Screenprinting has become an integral part of his practice since his first introduction to it 10 years ago. Soner is looking forward to bringing the joy of screenprinting to the students at Gowanus Print Lab.
