PRAISE FOR THE PRINT LAB
Some kind words about our print shop, studio classes and design classes... Courtney on her experiences working in our studio... I love this place! I was totally new to screen printing until I took the intro class (after purchasing a groupon or something like that). After the class I felt like I could figure it out on my own so I signed up for a month pass. I definitely suffered some growing pains the first few days but soon felt at home in the space and with the help of the staff (esp. Ashley and Amy) I've been able to finish several projects. Elizabeth on our Photoshop Crash Course... Maybe the best instructional class I've ever taken. I took the Photoshop Crash Course here, and have never left a course feeling more resourced. The instruction was at once fast-paced, thorough, and full of information, yet we all still got personal attention. It never felt brusque or dismissive, which often happens in these classes. The instructor was able to adapt commands for students who work from PCs or older versions of Photoshop without skipping a beat, and simply worked it into his instruction. His enthusiasm and knowledge was evident, yet he never seemed put-out by basic questions (which sometimes happens to me at the Mac Genius Bar, for example...) I can't imagine getting better training on this topic elsewhere. They totally know what they're doing. Thanks! Hallie of Campbell and Co on our Specialty Inks + Applications... Take it! gowanus print lab was the ideal location -- we saw examples of each technique to begin and the print setup, inks, dryer and heat press were all ours for the class as we went through creating every effect. we even got to see expert 6-color registration on a t-shirt going on next to us. the best part was the instructor juan pineda... 25 years in the biz and he was generous and knowledgable in answering any and all questions, adding his experience with tips/tricks, sourcing, etc. along with the answers. ANY class he teaches would be a smart investment. Benjamin on our Stationery Workshop... The teacher was fun, extremely patient and informative. He taught the basics of screen printing cards in a very hands-on and beginner focused way. After taking the class, I feel like I have a good base of card printing knowledge. I know what I need to do/learn/buy to take my card making to the next level. Thanks! Rachel on DIY Wedding... Future brides and grooms: I took the wedding stationary workshop and I am SO GLAD I DID. Now I have awesome, personal, handmade invitations that I couldn't get anywhere else! I am not particularly design-oriented and had not printed anything before, but the talented folks at GPL helped me get them just right! DO IT. |
