Bookbinding for Artist Books and Zines
This course provides a grand overview of four bookbinding techniques (the 1-Page Book, the Accordion-Style Book, Traditional Japanese Bookbinding and Hardcover Bookbinding) and an introduction to book layout techniques. After participating in the hands-on demos, students will create on blank book of each style to use as a journal, sketchbook or give as a handmade gift. Students can opt to bring their own pages for the Japanese-style book (as long as all pages are the same size) and students will create a two-color screen printed cover for their hardbound book. Four 3-hour Sessions Experience Level: Intermediate (Intro to Screen Printing or equivalent experience required) Price: $250, all bookbinding tools, screen printing supplies and bookbinding board included. Paper is provided for the 1-Page and Accordion-Style books. You provide paper for the Japanese-bound (any size as long as all sheets are the same size) and Hardcover book (11x17" only). You will also need to bring your bookcloth and decorative endpapers of choice for the Hardcover book. Instructor: KJ Martinet !!! Please read our Education Policy before registering.
